The 67th Annual Edmonds Arts Festival is Father’s Day Weekend June 14-16th!
More Art To See This Year Including The New Small Paintings Juried Selections in the Small Works Marketplace
Edmonds, WA, May 2024 — The 67th Annual Edmonds Arts Festival is a three-day event taking place June 14-16 at the Frances Anderson Center (FAC), 700 Main Street, Edmonds, WA. The Edmonds Arts Festival is a creative tradition, highlighting the best of Northwest regional art and fun family entertainment. Included are painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers and other unique artisans, along with live music, food vendors and a large Student Art display. Hours are 10-7pm Friday and Saturday, and 10-5pm on Sunday.
New Small Paintings Category
New this year is the Small Paintings category of Juried Art that will be displayed inside FAC in the Small Works Marketplace in Room 206. “We decided to differentiate small paintings from the miniatures category this year. We also wanted to expand the range of small painting sizes that could be entered for consideration. Now, paintings that are sized from 6”x9” to 12”x12” have a place in our show and we are excited to see the public’s response,” said Melissa Wadsworth, Co-Director, Gallery Arts. According to Wadsworth, the category has proven very popular with artists, with more than 300 entries for this year’s Small Paintings juried category.
EAF draws thousands of visitors to view 2D and 3D artwork. Juried Art is in three galleries inside of the Frances Anderson Center. Painting, Mixed Media 2D, Prints, Drawings, Sculpture, and Artisan Works are featured in the Main Gallery in the Gym. Miniatures, Small Paintings, and Small Artisan Works are displayed in the “gift store-like” Small Works Marketplace, with Photography and Digital Art across the hall in room 207.
According to Gallery Arts Co-Director Janet Jensen, a record number of entries across all categories were received this year, making the jurors’ selection process especially challenging. From more than 1900 entries, four jurors were asked to select 550 to 575 artworks representing a diverse range of art styles, techniques, and approaches. “We want our galleries to highlight the amazing artists in our region and across the Northwest. We instruct our jurors to include as many artists as possible,” stated Jensen. She points out that entering the correct call, uploading clear images, and entering more than one category all increase an artist’s chances of being selected.
Edmonds has the distinction of being Washington State’s first Certified Creative District for its unified recognition of the importance of the arts across all sectors. Every artwork purchased at the Edmonds Arts Festival helps to fund scholarships, school-based grants, community art projects and public art.
