“Lay Your Burden Down” with Carina del Rosario

February 6 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

What’s weighing on your mind? Artist Carina del Rosario invites you to “Lay Your Burden Down” through her pop-up art project during the First Thursday Art Walk on February 6th from 5-8pm. Write or draw what’s causing you heartache, and Carina will later incorporate these into a collaborative textile installation at the Seattle Asian Art Museum.

About the artist: Born in the Philippines, Carina A. del Rosario immigrated to the United States as a young girl. She earned her B.A. in Communication from Santa Clara University in 1991. She has studied photography with Magnum Photographer Alex Webb, Rebecca Norris Webb, Raul Touzon and Eddie Soloway, and has been mentored by numerous visual artists in Seattle. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums, and mounted as public installations in the Washington and Arizona. Her work is in the collections of King County’s 4Culture and the cities of Seattle and Kent, and has been supported with grants and scholarships from the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, 4Culture, the Puffin Foundation, the Pride Foundation, the Barbara Jean Brown Foundation and Grace Church in Seattle. She also co-founded IDEA Odyssey, a collective that nurtures and promotes artists of color and artists who explore culture, identity and diversity in their visual art. She was presented with the KCTS Golden Apple Award for Innovation in Education in 2020 and the International Examiner Community Voice Award in 2013.
