Public Art Project: Mural for Arlington Boys & Girls Club Exterior Wall
Description: The City of Arlington is seeking a mural artist or artist teams for a large mural on the exterior wall of the Arlington Boys and Girls Club of Arlington. One artist or an artist team may be selected from those who submit letters of interest, a resume, photos of past work, and a narrative of the artist’s proposed mural idea.
Theme: Images and style should speak to the youth of our community. Artist(s) shall have one meeting with youth to help develop ideas for the theme. The City will facilitate this meeting.
Area: The area of the wall to be painted is approximately 50 feet wide by 30 feet high with a medium textured finish. Located at Arlington Boys & Girls Club, seen from north parking lot, 18513 59th Avenue, NE Arlington, WA.
Selection: The building is owned by the City of Arlington and managed by the Boys & Girls Club of Snohomish County. Proposals will be reviewed by the City’s Public Art Committee and by management of the Boys & Girls Club.
Budget: This project is funded in the City of Arlington’s 2023 Public Art Fund. The total budget is $20,000, which must include taxes, insurance, supplies, scaffolding, the artwork, and any other requirements of the project. The selected artist may be paid a portion of the total fee in advance for developing the proposed design.
Timeline: The project must be completed by the end of 2023.
Letters of Interest and materials must be submitted by May 1, 2023. The selected artist(s) will be notified as soon as proposals are reviewed.
Proposals: Interested parties should submit a letter of interest, samples of work, proposal of art theme, and proposed size and location of mural. Submittals may be emailed or mailed. Electronic attachments should be PDFs, Word documents, and JPGs formats only.
The City will select from proposals and may select one or none.
