This 3 day workshop, taught by Kathy Anderson, will consist of some plein air days in some of Whidbey Island’s beautiful gardens, and also one or two studio days.
I will show you how to simplify a flower scene with big shapes and a strong block-in. I will demo in the morning, and the students will paint in the afternoon On the second day we will return to the site and I will demo on how to finish a painting from the block-in. The students will either work on the same painting or start a new one, whichever they prefer. For the studio day, I will again demo, with the focus on how to design a floral still life that has a fresh and natural look with lots of movement. The students then will set up their own still lifes in the afternoon. We’ll talk about how to finish the painting using digital images, or how to set up again at home.
This workshop, held August 9 to 11, 2018, is open to all levels. The cost is $500. Sign up at http://www.whidbeyislandfas.com.
