The still life portion (first 3 days) of this workshop is to help the student understand the importance of the set-up and designing a beautiful composition. Jeff Legg will then show you how to boldly dive into the painting without tedious pre-drawing but by massing in shapes and building the form.
The final day will be painting the portrait from a live model. Again, Jeff will demonstrate painting directly onto the canvas, massing in shapes and building the form with light and shadow. Jeff takes the intimidation factor out of painting portraiture by stressing seeing shapes and values only.
This four-day workshop held July 27 to 30, 2019, is open to all levels. The cost is $895. Sign up at https://www.whidbeyislandfas.com/workshops.
