“Steal Like an Artist” Group Show

December 14^th opening reception 5-9pm

Steal Like an Artist, the group show is open from December 7 – January 26^th, with over forty creative submissions in various mediums. We asked our artists to produce a piece of art that was a “steal” from an artist they really were inspired by. This does not mean ‘steal’ as in plagiarize, skim, or rip off — but study, credit, remix, mash up and transform, essentially how would you interpret their art into your art?

A new showing of Jolyn Wells-Moran’s landscapes in oil has started at Fogue Studios and Gallery in Georgetown. Simultaneously, several of her landscapes from the southwest are up at nearby El Serenito, a quality Mexican restaurant. Both shows run through December. Make it a day or evening out!

Art Attack (Georgetown art walk) is the second Saturday each month and a great time to visit. It’s noon to 9PM. Fogue regular days and times are Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 5PM. Free parking. Refreshments are served during Art Attack and you can visit with the artist then too. Come on in!

A collection of eight oils, “In the spirit of nature,” by Wells-Moran are at Fogue Studios & Art Gallery through October. The harmonious local landscapes are 8” by 10” to 18” by 24”.

“Lies and Sorrow” a solo show featuring the work of Colleen Monette. The show explores the lies we’ve been told and the sorrow we feel when we learn the truth, the art deals with the lie.
Colleen, a Seattle-based artist working with found, salvaged vintage, antique materials for assemblage, collage and encaustic painting.

Lies and Sorrow is a solo show from Fogue Studios artist Colleen Monette. Colleen explores through her art the lies we are told and the sorrow that occurs when we learn the truth. Colleen is a salvage artist. Her style, aesthetic, is much like a historian or archaeologist, to preserve what she unearths. In her own words, “I love the ancient, I swoon over beautiful penmanship. My work explores my love for this antique ephemera, the beauty and the decay, working to merge together elements that are centuries apart to create a new history.”

The opening reception is 5-9pm during the Georgetown Art Walk.

Best Friends is a group show from the artists at Fogue Studios & Gallery. The show explores the unique connection we have with the animal kingdom. Several mediums are featured from oil, sumi, collage, sculpture and ceramic.

Fogue is open Thursday – Sunday 12-5pm with free parking.

Jolyn Wells-Moran’s landscape oils, “In the spirit of nature,” will be at Fogue all month. You might want to come in for Georgetown’s Art Attack (art walk) on Saturday, Sept 14. Meet the artist, enjoy the food, sip some wine and, most importantly, see the art! Open noon to 9PM on that day only, or visit at a quieter time.

Wells-Moran’s colorful still life and landscapes in oil are featured in her first month at Fogue Gallery in Georgetown. A lover of the great outdoors and a believer in the spontaneity and expressiveness of plein air, she generally begins a painting in the field and finishes in the studio. You may want to visit during Georgetown’s lively art walk, Art Attack, on July 13, 6PM – 9PM when the gallery will hold the opening reception for the Recycled Arts show. Due to the heat, the gallery will open on July 11 and 12 from 3PM – 5PM only. Otherwise, the gallery is regularly open Th – Sun, 12 PM – 5PM.)
